Stoicism Is Awesome But...

Stoicism is an awesome philosophy, one that I’ve spent some time reading about. Today however I was searching for what critics have to say. I stumbled upon this piece from New Ideal which preaches Ayn Rand’s thoughts.

When Stoic philosophers utter sentences like “If you’re a slave then be a good slave.”, you don’t have a choice but to think that the underlying determinism in Stoicism is way too strong, and one should make way for what other philosophies have to say too: Every person is responsible for his or her own happiness and should try to pursue it.
